This film won four Oscars out of six possible. In my personal opinion, “Parasites” did not deserve so many awards, especially such significant ones. Let me explain why: this year there were many worthy works claimed for the title of “Best Director” and “Best Film”. But if one can agree with one award for "best film", gritting my teeth, then why and in general for what the "best director" was given, I cannot understand.
It makes no sense to talk about other films, so I'll tell you a little about the Korean film. Naturally, as from any oriental film, you expect surprises (be it a Chinese, Japanese, South Korean film). It all began for health, and ended for peace, as they say. An interesting humorous comedy turned into a black comedy with elements of drama.
I don't understand such a move at all. What exactly did the director want to say, what is the main idea of the film in the end? Yes, in South Korea there are acute social problems of inequality, difficulties in finding a job, and in general in realizing oneself in the future after graduation. After all, this country ranks first in the world for committing suicides.
I still don't understand the confusion at the end of the film, a bit like Tarantino's style. But if I watch Quentin's paintings, I understand his whole message, because throughout the entire viewing it is somehow justified. Here, of course, it looks easy, with great interest. But the finale itself did not leave any emotions, after which I would think about something, or something was deposited in my memory. Was the director's move justified? For me, no, but this is purely my subjective opinion. At the same time, the film is very impressive, captivating, but upon completion there is a void. This work is from the category: "cinema at one time current".
