This is a growing up story set in Austria during the war, where the family hides a Jewish doctor. We have not heard anything about the project since 2014, but judging by the footage, the material has already been filmed and is ready for editing. Here's everything we know about The Man in the Box. Plot
The film is set in the Austrian Tyrol at the end of World War II. With some reluctance, the teen's family hides a Jewish doctor in their tiny Austrian mountain village, who saved their son's life before the war. The boy is shocked by this idea, but his father insisted that it was necessary. Combined with the growing attraction between him and the nearly blind girl next door, a boy-man-in-a-box relationship is gradually developing.
Production
Director - Arsen A. Ostojic ("Halima's Way", "Wonderful Night in Split"):
“I've known Steve Walsh, the film's producer, for almost ten years. He appreciates my work very much and considers "That Wonderful Night in Split" a great film. Walsh had been preparing the Man in a Box project for a long time, and when he came up with a high-quality version of the script and became interested in partners in Germany, he immediately offered it to me.
I have to tell you honestly, when I was offered this script, I didn't jump on board right away. But Walsh insisted that I direct the film. He thought that I was the most suitable director for the post, and in the end I agreed, with a little tweaking of the script.
At the same time, I invited him to apply for the HAVC competition in order to get additional funding for co-production. This was done, and HAVC approved 100 thousand euros, which is symbolic in relation to the total budget of the film, which is more than five million euros.
However, the film will officially launch as a British-Croatian co-production because the German producers dropped out of the project. And I am extremely happy that in this economic situation Croatia will receive three to four times more funds than invested. "
