The history of the Czech icon of the 14th century and the military leader Jan ižka, who defeated the armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire.
About the plot
Jan Zizka (1360-1424) - national hero of the Czech people. The film takes place before the Hussite wars (military actions involving the followers of Jan Hus, which took place from 1419 to 1434), when ижižka was young. The picture will tell about the formation of ижižka as a famous military leader.
Short synopsis: Jan ižka is a member of a mercenary group that does dirty work for the nobles. His new mission is to save King Wenceslas (Karel Roden), the beautiful mistress of Catherine (Sophie Lowe). The situation is complicated when he falls in love with Catherine.
About production
The director, producer and co-writer of the script - Petr Yakl ("Kainek", "Ghoul", "Eurotour", "Three X's", "Borgia") admitted that he drew inspiration from such historical epics as "Braveheart" (1995) and The Last Samurai (2003).
Yakl said the epic is also based on his own sense of national identity and pride:
“One of the fundamental reasons I made a film about Жižka is that I am really proud to be Czech. I think the Czechs have a positive trait: they can come to an agreement, but at the same time they fight when necessary. We do not act on a hot head, we know how to compromise. And while traveling around the world, I have found that this personality suits me best. We Czechs should be proud of who we are. "
