Egner Thorbjørn is known not only as the author of his own works, but also as a translator into Norwegian of the most famous books for children of British writers Alan Milne and Hugh Lofting, as well as the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren.
In 1952, the story of a magic forest with talking animals became part of the radio program, but later the play gained popularity and was published in paper form. Due to the increased interest, it was decided to make an audio production as well; Egner Thorbjørn acted as a composer in collaboration with the Norwegian Christian Hartmann.
The revival of the classic Norwegian fairy tale is taking place before our eyes - in the new animated creation of Rasmus A. Sivertsen "Magic Forest". The film director was among the nominees for one of the most prestigious world film festivals - Berlin - for the film "Solan and Ludwig: Cheese Race". Among his other animated hits are Forest Patrol and The Snow Adventures of Solan and Ludwig.
"The Magic Forest" tells about the smart little mouse Morten and his friends who live in a magic forest and do not know any troubles - it is always sunny, beautiful and safe here. But it was so for the time being, until a cunning red rogue appeared in him - the fox Mikel, who threatened all forest inhabitants. Other animals, looking at Mikel, also ceased to hide their instincts. Defenseless little inhabitants of the forest are now once again afraid to get out of their burrows. The magic forest turns into a scary and dangerous place.
To save friends from a dangerous predator, baby Morten proposes to adopt a law according to which all animals must stop eating each other in order to live in peace and harmony in their forest kingdom. Despite its small size, he intends to defend new orders of life in the forest.
However, will predators be able to restrain their instincts, especially the cunning fox Mikel? Will it be possible to return that wonderful animal paradise that was before, where friendship, joy and happiness reigned? All inhabitants of the Magic Forest will be united by an incident that will push even the most dangerous predators to take a step towards peace and mutual assistance. The adventures of the heroes are just as interesting to watch as it was in the popular Soviet animated films "Brother Rabbit and Brother Fox" (1972), "Housewarming at Brother Rabbit" (1986) and others based on the book by J. Harris "Uncle's Tales Remus ".
The forest with its inhabitants is shown in a special way, it has its own rules. Here, all the animals behave and dress like people, and they also have the same problems and concerns: earn money, stock up on food, look after the children and protect them. There are many songs and music in the picture, which is remembered from the first notes. And the humming of the little mouse named Klaus, Morten's comrade, with its enthusiasm is very reminiscent of the famous hit “What a wonderful day” from the animated film “Little Mouse's Song”. Everyone sings in the magic forest - a mouse, a hedgehog, and a cunning fox. “How nice it would be in the forest if all the animals became friends,” they sing in unison, and this really, as the film shows, becomes possible.
