Kubrick's "Shining" has left a mark for many generations to come in the cinema. I watched it as a child, I was very afraid of the main character Jack Nicholson. He played, in my opinion, very convincingly. Naturally, when I grew up, I reviewed this picture several times, but it still did not make a strong impression on me, as in my childhood, for some reason I saw a certain understatement. And now, almost 40 years later, in 2019 there was a sequel called "Doctor Sleep", which managed to collect a lot of diverse reviews and reviews.
Details about the film
Of course, I know little of Stephen King's books. I've only read one. As it turned out, the second part of The Shining was released back in 2013, and they decided to film it only in 2019. Having accidentally seen the trailer for this picture, this video immediately caused positive emotions. But I like to watch such films not in the cinema, but at home alone with the lights off. And just recently "got around" to watching a long-awaited movie.
One of my favorite actors - Ewan McGregor - played the main role, namely the boy Doc, who grew up, but still has the so-called radiance. In the process of painting, it turns out that he is not alone in this world. And no matter how he tries to dull his gift, it is better to stop drinking and continue to develop his skills, because they need his help. Due to the fact that Doctor Sleep resumes her radiance, a new main character with even stronger abilities comes in contact with him. At least in the movies, she is shown as the strongest. And the antagonists in this picture were a group of people (or not people, or NOT people). She mainly sought out children who also had super skills, simply killed them and fed on this radiance.
The ending of the film was embarrassing, seemed a little crumpled. But overall, this movie made a good impression. Yes, here is not such an amazing directorial and camera work as in Kubrick's, here there are not such terrifying soundscapes and the play of heroes, but for some reason I looked like in childhood, without stopping, with great interest, recalling those first emotions of the first part pictures.
