Plot
Daniel is only 20 years old, but he has already gone through a spiritual rebirth in prison, and now his dream is to devote himself to worship. He is released on parole, he goes to work in a carpentry workshop located in the small town of Bieszczady.
The situation is complicated by a previous conviction. But Daniel decides to act cunningly and pretends to be a seminary graduate in order to take the position of pastor in the parish. The young man improvises and hides the lack of proper knowledge in the liturgy with sincerity and openness, and this attracts the local flock, striving for pacification. But over time, it becomes increasingly difficult for Daniel to keep his secret a secret, and no good deed will be left unpunished.
Who is this fake priest from the movie "The Body of Christ"?
The picture is based on real events. Several years ago, Patrick passed himself off as a priest in the village of Mazovetskoe. However, he was very surprised that a film was made about this, because no one asked his permission.
“I think before filming someone probably should have come to me and ask if they can bring my story to the screen. But nobody did it. And I didn't mean money. This is a matter of conscience. In the end, if not for me, this film would not have happened, ”he said in an interview with NaTemat.
Currently, the man is 27 years old, he managed to start a family. However, the priesthood fascinated him from childhood. Unlike his character in the film, he did not attend a minor school. When he was 18, he decided to try his hand at a real church. Patrick served for two months and was very much liked by the parishioners. He eventually confessed to fraud. His story has attracted interest from the very beginning.
“Six years ago, a writer interviewed me to work in college. I was very young and agreed. Then an article appeared in Wyborcza about me with the changed name Kamil, who pretended to be a priest. And later, this man also published the book "Sermon at the Bottom", - said Patrick in an interview.
The man does not hide that he feels deceived. He even considers legal moves.
“I saw this movie and it's about me, except that I was in high school. I consult with my patron whether it is worth filing a lawsuit, ”he admitted.
Interestingly, after years, Patrick doesn't think he made a mistake:
“I have never regretted what I did. I have probably offended some, for which I sincerely apologize. I deceived them, but not knowingly. I was 18 years old. I showed that a young man can also pray to God. I gave hope to most people. I was brought up in a poor but devout family. I never went there to get money, like most clergymen. I gave all the money I received from the people to the priest. Some of them laugh at me and ask how much I made. My answer is not at all, ”he said.
