Oscar-winning Roberto Benigni played Gepetto, an old woodcarver who once creates another doll. However, magic happens - the impudent doll can talk, walk, run and eat like any little boy. Jepetto names the doll Pinocchio and brings it up as his own son.

Director about Pinocchio
"Why another Pinocchio?" - such a question arises immediately when you hear about the idea of filming the best-selling classic work of Italian literature and translated into most languages.
Pinocchio's long-nosed, instantly recognizable face is everywhere - it has become synonymous with the spirit and lifestyle of Italy. His adventures have penetrated all areas of Italian culture. Pinocchio has been translated into 240 languages and remains on the world's 50 bestseller list.
With this film, I conclude my journey through the world of fairy tales, which I began in "Scary Tales". But Pinocchio is a special film because it combines Scary Tales with the rest of my filmography. I've always been drawn to this character, and many have noted his influence in the films Gomorrah and Reality.
Pinocchio is my old dream from childhood. I still have the storyboard on my desk that I drew and colored as a child, and this is one of my most precious memories.
