Vita and Virginia
- 2018 year
- Rating: KinoPoisk - 6.2; IMDb - 6
- Ireland, UK
- Drama, melodrama, biography
In the era of the Roaring Twenties, to the thunder of jazz at parties, the brilliant aristocrat and writer Vita Sackville West meets Virginia Woolf, making her way in the predominantly male world of big literature. A spark runs between the beautiful intellectuals, flaring up to a whirlwind romance.
Among the latest releases on same-sex relationships, this chamber film, set in lavish scenery and idyllic landscapes, is one of the most beautiful. The icon of feminism Wolfe in him is a living woman with a gentle soul and the eyes of a quivering doe.
Elisa y Marcela
- 2019 year
- Rating: KinoPoisk - 6.7; IMDb - 6.4
- Spain
- Drama, melodrama, biography
Two teaching students from the Spanish provinces, Alice and Marcela, fall in love. Parents, suspecting something was wrong, send Marcela to study in Madrid. But after parting, the girls meet again, and then decide on a desperate adventure to get married. To do this, Alice pretends to be her own cousin.
The stylish black-and-white picture of Spain's first same-sex marriage, registered in 1901, doesn't shake the basics. But this, in Spanish, is a passionate and in its own way touching spectacle of forbidden love and a harsh world that is merciless to the unlike.

Her complaints are killing her psychologist! In the truest sense of the word. But everything changes with the arrival of Chris. The lovely 22-year-old queer (trans man played by a trans man) thinks Abby is cool.
Witty, self-deprecating and uplifting 2019 semi-biographical sitcom with a collection of queer characters made the debut of actress and screenwriter Abby McEnany, who boldly transferred personal problems to the screen. Any single woman, regardless of orientation, will understand them.
Gentleman Jack

In the sanctimonious Victorian era, she appeared - bold, tough, eccentric and used to getting her way. She inherited the land, which she decided to manage herself, taking on the male role, wearing a man's dress, shooting a pistol and handling a cane in a fight, like a real fighter. She was called "Gentleman Jack" - admired, feared, condemned and loved.
The historical drama about an English aristocrat and the world's first open lesbian Anne Lister is a godsend for queer cinema lovers. Steep as a rock star, the heroine of Suzanne Jones will stop the galloping horse, saddle it and then gallop - to freedom.
Portrait of a girl on fire (Portrait de la jeune fille en feu)

In 1770, the artist Marianne came to Brittany. The owner of the estate invited her to paint a portrait of her daughter Eloise. She resolutely refuses to pose: the portrait is intended to be sent to her fiance in Milan, but Eloise does not want to marry. Marianne is introduced as her new "walking companion" and she paints a portrait of Heloise from memory.
The painting by LGBT activist and feminist Celine Syamma won the Palme d'Or for her coverage of LGBT issues in films. And this is really a very festival movie: beautiful to the point of pain in the eyes, significant, progressive and slogan.
Ground underfoot (Anchor and Hope)
- 2017 year
- Rating: IMDb - 6.5
- Spain
- Melodrama, comedy
Eve and Kat lead a carefree life boating on the London canals. But Eva dreams of a child and gives her friend an ultimatum. Kat reluctantly agrees. And just from Barcelona, her friend Roger arrives, who is ready to try himself as a father. Soon, Eve is enjoying her pregnancy, and Kat begins to feel redundant.
As lighthearted as a heroine's life, the indie film retains a light intonation, even in dramatic moments. A good female duet of Natalie Tena and Oona Chaplin. The sun is shining, the water in the canals is silvery, and a cart with three wheels is rolling, where everything is in place.
Silvana (Väck mig när ni vaknat)
- 2017 year
- Rating: IMDb - 7.1
- Sweden
- documentary, biography
Silvana Imam is a Swedish hip-hop star who calls herself "The Van Gogh of Rap" and "Liberace of Rap" and "Tarantino of Rap" (Eminem, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, step aside and have a smoke). Like many young, beautiful, successful and rich, she fights for women's rights, against racism (her father is from Syria, and her mother is from Latvia) and reads politically active and civic-conscious texts. Together with her beloved, singer Beatrice Eli, Sylvanas made a film about all this. With all due respect to the active civic position, it was rather self-praise, but it is pleasant to look at the girls.

The boys are replaced by a transgender girl (played by a real transgender girl). All of Ru's friends have life in full swing: one, for example, loses her virginity and decides to act in webcam porn.
Disney star Zendaya starred in the story of the generation that lives on Twitter and Instagram. She embodies all depressed teenagers with whom the same thing happens as it happened before. As the group Pep-See sang in the 90s: "Guys, music, drugs." Sometimes transgender girls.
Girlfriend (Rafiki)
- 2018 year
- Rating: KinoPoisk - 5.8; IMDb - 6.5
- Kenya, South Africa, Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway, Lebanon, UK
- Drama, melodrama
One looks like a skinny boy, the other has pink dreadlocks, and their families feud on political grounds. The situation of Romeo and Juliet, but with two Juliet, plus an old oppressive state apparatus and a society hostile to same-sex love.
The film, for which funding had to be sought in Europe, was nominated for the Queer Palm, but even the Cannes jury, accustomed to awarding everything progressive from the third world countries, could not stand this level of banality. The picture is colorful, both for tourist advertising, and, probably, socially useful for Kenya, but in Western queer cinema everything was already said about 20 years ago.
Princess Cyd
- 2017 year
- Rating: KinoPoisk - 6.3; IMDb - 6.7

16-year-old athlete Sid dreams of running away from her gloomy father, who is raising her alone, and leaves for the summer to visit her aunt-writer. She actually replaces her mother, and in a cafe nearby, Sid meets a girl who immediately invites her to take a walk.
In this unprecedented growing up story where a girl falls in love with a girl, nothing happens that would not have happened in a growing up story where the heroine falls in love with a boy. The first timid feeling, dance together, growing attraction. The relationship and conversations between Sid and her aunt are much more interesting: they are lively and realistic.

After leaving prison, Piper tries to adapt to life in freedom, experiencing problems, even when she just walks down the street: she managed to wean herself from such a movement. Alex promises her to stay out of trouble. The Lichfield administration is being replenished with new monsters.
The final season of the cult series about a women's prison came out quite successful. Although the usual black humor of the series did not so much dilute the dramatic scenes as sometimes seemed inappropriate. If you're not afraid of spoilers, Piper and Alex will find a way to stay in touch. The main character went through hell to return to herself.

Below Her Mouth
- 2016 year
- Rating: KinoPoisk - 6.2; IMDb - 5.5
- Canada
- Drama, melodrama
This is the last work in the list of LGBT films about girls' relationships. Fashion magazine editor Jasmine, who's doing well, is getting married. Getting acquainted in a bar with a lesbian Dallas, after one meeting and a couple of drinks, she is drawn into an affair. The relationship with the girl is new to her, her well-established life is gradually beginning to stagger.
This sensual melodrama lacks depth, but the film does not pretend to be it. Before us, rather, high-quality lesbian erotica, filmed by some women with knowledge of the matter. Looking at the androgynous supermodel Erica Linder with her sullen gaze is a pleasure in itself, and you can look for meaning and depth in another movie.
