About the plot
The protagonist is a Muslim American with Egyptian roots. He is constantly confronted with double standards, which, on the one hand, are dictated by his religious community in the New Jersey area, and on the other - by Generation Y, who questions everything, including life after death.
The show is based on the real life of Rami Youssef. He not only played the main role, but also became the scriptwriter of the project. In Season 2, the protagonist got a mentor, played by Mahershal Ali, a two-time Academy Award winner. He was a great addition to the second season, playing a soothing sheikh figure for the selfish and fallible Rami.
In the season 2 finale, Rami prepares for marriage and learns that his beloved Amani will travel to New Jersey from Cairo for the ceremony. This should lead to serious conflict.
In Season 3, Rami will need to do some introspection before starting a romantic relationship. The second season ends with the news that Amani's brother Shadi (Shadi Alphonse) has feelings for his sister Rami Dene (Mei Kalamavi). This fact precedes an awkward conversation between Rami and Amani.
