Christopher Nolan's fantasy film Interstellar was shown in China after the opening of cinemas and, unsurprisingly, made a splash, grossing $ 2.85 million at the box office. Plot
The sequel will likely set exactly where the first film ended, when Cooper woke up in a space habitat orbiting Saturn in a giant colony in outer space. There he meets his daughter, who is already much older than him.
Cooper then steals the ship to travel through the wormhole to Edmund's only habitable planet that Brand has found.
How the 1st part ended
Already an adult Cooper's daughter, Murph, returns to her children's bedroom and realizes that a certain ghost from her distant past is not a supernatural entity trying to contact her using drawings on the floor, but her father, lost in time and space. Remembering his love for him, Murph finds a watch.
Humanity now has a chance to survive. After all, when the planet dies, people will have to quickly leave it. And this can only be done by solving the gravitational equation using quantum data collected from a black hole. Using the clock, Murph solves the equation, thereby ensuring the survival of humanity.
Production
Unfortunately, it is not yet clear how much Christopher Nolan himself, the director and co-writer of the first part, is interested in the continuation of the film. Warner Brothers reportedly wants Nolan to direct again and is actively working on negotiations for his involvement. Ideally, the company wants him to re-write the script and lead the project, but is willing to accept that Nolan just work on the script.
It is not yet known exactly when Interstellar 2 will be released. If everything goes according to plan and production is announced, the premiere should not be expected until late 2021 or 2022.
Actors
Not announced yet. Previously, Matthew McConaughey (Gentlemen, True Detective, Dallas Buyers Club, Sea of Temptation) has expressed interest in making a second Interstellar 2 movie, so we can look forward to his return.
In November 2014, McConaughey announced to Sky News and IGN that he was ready to participate in the second film, if the opportunity arises and if everything in the project feels right to him.
