Netflix has acquired the film rights to the bestselling In Search of Atlantis by Andy McDermott, the first of fifteen books in the so-called Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase series. One of the producers was the director of the new "Batman" Matt Reeves. The cast and the start of filming have not yet been determined. The release date and trailer for The Hunt For Atlantis are expected in 2021. It is reported that Netflix may turn the film adaptation into a franchise.

About the plot

Atlantis. The greatest lost civilization of the past. Most scholars regard it as just an ancient legend, but Nina Wilde, a graduate student at New York University and an archaeologist, is of a different opinion. Her parents and teachers searched for Atlantis for many years, but later disappeared, and now she is ready to bring their work to the end. Nina is convinced that she has information that could lead to the vanished Atlantis. She teams up with an unceremonious British SAS bodyguard, Eddie Chase, when billionaire Christian Frost decides to fund an expedition and takes them around the world to discover the legendary lost city.
