Plot
The series explores the constraints of society, gender and family from the perspective of the rebellious young poet Emily Dickinson. The action takes place in the 19th century. Emily becomes a surprise heroine for the millennial generation.
The real Dickinson never achieved fame during her lifetime, and it remains unclear how much she actually sought fame while creating her works. During her lifetime, less than a dozen poems were published, all under a pseudonym. Only after Emily's death did her sister Lavinia find a cache with the writer's notes and gave her work for publication, after which the general public learned about Dickinson's work.
In the second season, the writer steps out of the shadow of personal creativity and is in full view of the public, struggling with the feeling that the pursuit of fame can be a dangerous game for her.
