Searchlight Pictures has partnered with Ford v Ferrari director James Mangold to play the young Bob Dylan, a folk music icon, in Going Electric for Timothy Chalamet. Filming is extremely difficult in the COVID era due to the stricter filming requirements, so production of the project was suspended until 2021.
Plot
Viewers will see Bob Dylan at a time in his life when he was about to become the most prominent figure in folk music. But Bob abandoned the genre for rock and roll, trading an acoustic guitar for an amplifier and electrical installation, which caused huge bewilderment among fans.
Dylan was hailed as the "acoustic messiah" at 19 when he blew up the folk scene and seemed poised to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. So when he hooked up his electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival on July 25, 1965, a scandal erupted. Some folk purists branded Dylan as a traitor, and there were even attempts to turn off his amp, indicating a rift between folk and the then growing power of rock music.

The operator of the project, Papamichael, said that the details of the story related to a specific period make filming such a film difficult in a pandemic, when the scenery was forced to be cut:
“I don't think the project has been frozen. But in the era of COVID, a lot is difficult to implement, because the shooting takes place in small rooms with a lot of paraphernalia in the form of antique costumes, hairstyles and makeup. "
